The full title for this activity is "Rising from sitting in an upright chair with a back but no arms without the help of another person". There are four descriptors. The number in brackets is the amount of points awarded for each descriptor.
The guidance gives further explanation for the word "sometimes" in that the claimant "will, at times, be unable to do the activity because of the severity of their medical condition" and that this inability will occur with "some frequency -i.e. it is not a rare event and there would have to be definite periods when the person could not manage the task".
This definition is further expanded by "such occasions must be likely to occur with reasonable frequency such that they are not rare events."
