The claimant may be awarded the adult dependant's addition if he or she
- lives with a spouse or civil partner who is over 60 years of age or
- lives with a spouse or civil partner and either are entitled to child benefit for a child or young person or
- lives with an adult who looks after a child or young person for whom the claimant is entitled to child benefit or
- contributes to the maintenance or employs an adult to look after a
child or young person for whom the claimant is entitled to child benefit- the claimant
must be paying this adult at least the equivalent of the adult dependant addition.
The addition will not be paid if the spouse or civil partner earns more than £37.90 (for those on short-term IB) or £59.15 per week
(for those on long-term IB)
