The Mayo Clinic lists the following self-care steps for people with CFS-
- Reduce stress- It is important to have a plan avoid or limit overexertion and emotional stress. Allow some time each day just to relax.
Don't change your routine completely, people who give up work in response to CFS tend to do worse than people who carry on.
- Getting sufficient sleep is really important, practice good sleep habits such going to bed and getting up at the same time each day and limiting the
amount of daytime naps.
- Regular exercise often improves symptoms, many people find walking, swimming, biking and water aerobics useful. A physiotherapist
may be able to design a home-exercise programme for you. Tai-chi and stretching exercises can also be helpful.
- Eating a balanced diet, drinking plenty of fluids, reducing caffeine intake, stopping smoking, getting adequate and regular rest and exercise are all
ways of being better prepared to deal with the symptoms of CFS.
