You should only claim if your disability has affected you for the last three months.
You need to show your disability has meant that you have needed help from someone else or haven't been able to get around throughout the three months before you apply.
You don't have to pass the three months test if you are terminally ill.
Care needs are either needing help from someone else to do personal things for you eg-
-Eating and drinking,

-Getting in or out of bed
-Washing
-Dressing
-Breathing
-Bathing
-Sleeping
-Going to the toilet
-Shaving
or
Needing someone else around to make sure you are not at risk of injuring yourself or others.
Being unable to prepare a meal for yourself is also counted as a "care need".
