You need to show that you are likely to meet one of the disability test criteria throughout the six months after your claim. In order to qualify you should be fairly certain that your care or mobility needs are unlikely to significantly improve over the next six months.

 

Care needs

Care needs are either needing help from someone else to do personal things for you eg-

-Eating and drinking,

-Walking,

-Getting in or out of bed,

-Washing

-Dressing,

-Breathing,

-Bathing,

-Sleeping

-Going to the toilet,

-Shaving.

or

Needing someone else around to make sure you are not at risk of injuring yourself or others

being unable to prepare a meal for yourself is also counted as a care need

Mobility needs

These are-

-Being unable to walk

-Being virtually unable to walk

-Having no legs or feet

-Being deaf and blind

-Being severley mentally impaired with extreme behaviour problems

-Needing guidance from someone else to walk in places that are not familiar to you

-You also have a mobility need if you can show that the effort required for you to walk would be "likely to lead to a serious deterioration in your health"
