You will need to show that your disability means that you require" prolonged or repeated attention at night in connection with your bodily functions." This means that you need help from another person for either one period of over twenty minutes or for three or more shorter periods during the night.
Attention
means active help to do personal things
for you that you cannot do for yourself
Attention must involve some personal contact with you and be carried out in your presence
Bodily functions
means things like getting in
and out of bed, going to the toilet, changing bedding after an accident
etc.
It can also mean soothing you back to sleep or helping you to turn over in bed
in order to avoid pressure sores
Prolonged
means for longer than twenty minutes.
Repeated
means three times or more.
At night
means the period when other members
of your household normally go to bed.
It doesn't matter whether you are getting this help now. What counts is whether you need it.
You do not have to show that you need this help on every night of the week. You are still likely to meet the criteria if you need help on three or four nights per week.
