Attendance Allowance is payable to people over the age of 65 -

-If you are under 65 then you may be entitled to Disability Living Allowance (DLA).

-The only exception to the lower age limit is those people who are switching from the pre-1976 invalid vehicle scheme to the higher rate of the DLA mobility component

-If you are over 65 and already receive the care component of DLA then you can switch rates if your care needs change

-If you are over 65 and already receive the mobility component of DLA then you cannot switch rates even if your care needs change.

-If you are over 65 and need to switch your care rate then you need to show that your care needs changed six months before making your claim.
